ProcesadoraCampofresco
produces ready-to-drink fruit juices and beverages, frozen juice
concentrates, and refrigerated products in various packing sizes and
materials, from conventional paper cartons and composite cans to
flexible plastic pouches under its patented Alipak technology,
hot-blown and hot-filled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles, and
aluminum cans for the consumer market in addition to commercial food
service packaging for the food and beverage industry. Although
Campofresco
is updating its complete product catalog to incorporate these
technologies exclusively, the plant offers other packing options as
each technology has its particular advantages and market appeal.
ALIPAK
PROPRIETARY PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY
Campofresco's
proprietary Alipak technology (U.S.
patent #5804240) was developed by
Austrian A. Madlener, one of
Procesadora
Campofresco's
original founders and the
company's current Vice-President of
Technology Research and Development.
This innovative technology utilizes a
special co-extruded film as packing
material, resulting in a compact,
flexible enclosure in the form of a
pouch that produces the lowest
production and post-consumption waste
of any package in the market. Thanks
to the unique properties of its
specially developed film, Alipak
provides an unprecedented six-months
shelf life for 100% juice products
without the need of refrigeration or
the use of preservatives. Another
major advantage of this innovative
technology is the reduction of
physical space required for its
implementation since all the steps
involved in the production of Alipak
products (package forming, hot
filling, form-filled sealing and film
printing) are carried out by a single
piece of equipment.
The
convenient advantages of the Alipak
technology in addition to the superior
quality of the company's products, has
made
Procesadora
Campofresco
the leading supplier of fruit juices &
beverages for the Puerto Rico
Department of Education's School Lunch
Program (funded by the U.S. Department
of Agriculture) since 1994. The
flexible, easy-to-carry pouch is most
appealing to students in school
cafeterias and mess halls.
ALUMINUM
CANS
Made
of the most abundant metallic
element on Earth's crust, aluminum
cans are a preferred packing
material for its numerous
advantages. Its resistance to
corrosion preserves freshness and
provides extended shelf life, its
light weight makes it easy and
cost-effective to transport and
handle, and its 100% recyclable
properties make aluminum and
excellent eco-friendly material.
As a matter of fact, 100% of the
cans manufactured in the United
States (and about 50% of the cans
manufactured in the rest of the
world) are made of aluminum.
Procesadora
Campofresco
manufactures fruit juice &
beverage products in aluminum cans
for Ocean Spray
and its proprietary Lotus
brand among others.
FROZEN CONCENTRATE COMPOSITE CANS
Long used for packing frozen
concentrates, composite cans offer the lowest cost-per-ounce for the end consumer of any package in the industry.
Although new technologies are spawning new packaging trends for all types of products,
Procesadora
Campofresco
still offers composite cans as
a cost-effective packing option for frozen
concentrates.
COMMERCIAL FOOD SERVICE PACKING
For
the food & beverage industry,
Procesadora Campofresco, Inc.
manufactures juice concentrate
products in commercial food service
packing like post-mix cartridges
widely used in restaurants. As in the
consumer market where PET bottles and
aluminum cans are quickly replacing
traditional glass bottles and tin
cans, product packing trends within
the food & beverage market are also
changing, opting for newer and more
effective technologies. As a response
to these changing trends,
Procesadora
Campofresco
will soon offer commercial food
service products in asceptic
bag-in-a-box packing as an option to
the post-mix cartridge. This
implementation of new technologies
reflects
Campofresco's
commitment to quality and innovation.
PET PRODUCTS
Polyethylene terephthalate, commonly
known as PET, is a thermoplastic
polymer resin used in numerous
applications from beverage packing to
synthetic fiber products
manufacturing. Naturally colorless and
of high transparency, PET-made bottles
are extremely lightweight, strong and
impact-resistant. While all
thermoplastics are technically
recyclable, PET bottle recycling is
more practical than any other plastic
applications.
The relative ease of sorting,
collecting, cleaning and
reprocessing of PET products makes
them one of the most
economically-viable recycling
materials. PET is 100% recyclable,
excellent for thermal recycling
because of its carbon, hydrogen
and oxygen composition with only
trace amounts of sulphur-free
catalyst elements and its energy
content equivalent to that of soft
coal.
Procesadora Campofresco
manufactures PET-bottled products
under its proprietary, national
and privately owned brands.
PURE-PAK REFRIGERATED CARTONS
Despite the growing demand for PET-bottled products, traditional paper cartons are still used widely in the food industry for several reasons. First and foremost, paper cartons have long been the preferred packing material for perishable products sensitive to UV light coming from fluorescent lamps or direct sunlight, as they provide extended freshness and shelf-life. Although modern materials are now available with UV-blocking properties, traditional paper cartons are often preferred by consumers who associate them with freshness and quality. In several countries, pint and half-pint cartons are still used commonly as a volume measurement unit.
Procesadora Campofresco offers paper cartons as a packing option for refrigerated products.
The availability of
PET bottling, aluminum canning and other
packing technologies at
Campofresco,
in addition to the rigorous quality
controls maintained in its production
processes, makes
Procesadora
Campofresco
the ideal fruit
juice & beverage manufacturing facility
for any company seeking to establish or
expand a market presence in Puerto Rico
and/or the Caribbean without incurring on
costly shipping expenses.
